Every so often our ventures on photo shoots around the local area exposes us to someone or something interesting that we would like to
share with the community. Of course we aren't everywhere all the time so if you know of something or someone that should perhaps be here
for the community to read about or see, please email us and we will certainly make reasonable efforts to bring it to the attention of the
community here. Regards,

We recently made photo's  of the Jr livestock show at the Northwest Missouri State Fair in Bethany Missouri.
This is our fourth year doing so and having this Idea for a community spotlight on our website we approached a local student for a quick interview to bring us and
our readers inside the show ring so to speak by giving us some insight on what it is like to show animals at such an event.
All the young folks showing have a very diligent job tending their animals, prepping them and showing them. It is a very demanding job that bystanders at the fair
might overlook, or not understand. Autumn and I are very honored to take these photo's for these outstanding young individuals. The young person we approach
and interviewed this year was Abby Hamaker. The following short interview took place during the livestock show when Abby had a moment of free time between
shows. Thank you Abby for talking with us!

Q: How long have you been showing livestock?

A: This makes 11 years.

Q: What are some things you like about it?

A: There is a competition factor that can create a bit of an adrenaline rush actually. Allot of people that don't do this, don't
understand. I enjoy meeting show friends and building friendships with people that like doing this. Also you get to do allot of
traveling and I enjoy that.

Q: What is the hardest thing about showing livestock?

A: In my opinion the hardest thing about it is when I have to show against family. My brother also shows and I love to see him
win, but I also want to win, so that is hard.

Q: What is something positive you have learned from showing livestock?

A: I hope you have allot of time! Actually probably the number one thing you learn is responsibility. Closely followed by present
ability How we present ourselves is a very important part of things and I feel like it is a very positive aspect that I have learned.

Q: Obviously you believe showing livestock is a good learning experience, would you encourage other young people to get into
showing as well? And Why?

A: I do encourage others to do this ALLOT. I push 4H because there are so many apparent and Hidden opportunities that you
become aware of when you become a part of this organization. Young people can learn responsibility and that it isn't a bad
thing. You meet others that have similar interests and friendships form that would otherwise not be possible.
